About YTC

Mission

Yendor Theatre Company (YTC) is a creative, educational and transformative haven for emerging and established Black, Brown, and LGBTQIA+ artists. YTC is dedicated to developing original, boundary-pushing work that is rooted in the lived-experiences of both the artists and the historically-resilient communities where the art is being created; bridging divides between communities and modeling what it means to center equity and justice in both its processes and artistic products.

Ultimately, Yendor Theatre Company envisions a future where equity is not an aspiration but a standard within the arts. Through intentional storytelling and radical collaboration, YTC continues to challenge systems of exclusion while celebrating the richness of diverse cultural expression.

Founder

THE VISIONARY…

“Andrew Binger is a Newark-based actor, director, educator, and arts administrator with deep roots in New Jersey’s theater community. He co-founded Yendor Theatre Company in 2016 under the guidance of Rodney Gilbert, and serves as its Producing Artistic Director, leading the company’s mission to bring inclusive, socially conscious professional theatre to the City of Newark. With experience spanning performance, directing, and arts education, Andrew has been a consistent voice for equity and representation on and off the stage. Building on YENDOR’s longstanding tradition of activating public space, he launched YTC’s Neighborhood Theatre Initiative, bringing professional theatre to all five wards of Newark.

He serves on the Board of Trustees of the New Jersey Arts & Culture Renewal Fund and the Village Revival Project. Andrew brings a deep commitment to uplifting historically underrepresented voices through theater and the arts in Newark and beyond.”
